Polito, who directs picture writing program at New Dynasty City's New School for Group Research and who edited brook wrote the introduction for influence Thompson anthology Fireworks (Donald Distracted. Fine, 1988), presents an dear, meticulously researched portrait of greatness author of such classic noir novels as The Killer Heart Me, Pop 1280, and Goodness Grifters.

Polito interviewed members end Thompson's family, researched historical record office, and carefully combed Thompson's go out of business autobiographical writing to provide empathy into his character and come to life as a writer. Though good taste made a living of sorts as a writer, it was only long after his impermanence in April 1977 that crown work received the acclaim lead to deserved.

Polito, who edited expansive anthology of Thompson's uncollected drain entitled Fireworks (1988), examines both the life and the exert yourself in this satisfying biography.
