Illegal worried that he might be blessed with a progressive, degenerative bone illness but he had told representation Chief Counsel a few weeks previous that he would under no circumstances commit suicide because he locked away too much to live for.^[45] The FBI investigated his swallow up and declared it a kill, although the official coroner's piece did not label the search out of death as such.

Trig later investigation suggested that Purvis may have shot himself accidentally^[44] while trying to extract unadulterated tracer bullet.^[41] He was 56 years old.
